ABOUT

My Background

Having studied global warming and climate change as part of a degree, the importance of recycling as much as possible is very dear to my heart and I hate throwing away anything which could be used in some way. Consequently, I've spent many a happy hour in my 'studio' attaching unwanted bits and pieces to old or unwanted canvases and - until I ran out, the un-partnered gold earring from my own 'stash'.

These early mixed media canvas collages could include interesting tree bark, pieces of once loved jewellery, photographs, pressed leaves, flowers, shells or parts from bicycles, clocks, watches televisions and computers. I used to find my family’s reaction to my requests for mechanical and electrical bits and pieces (especially computer, bicycle and car parts) very amusing. Some years later, they own at least one of my pieces!

Although my preference is for upcycling and producing as 'green' a piece of art as I can, I now occiasionally use bought in canvases, and components.

My Art

Each piece is whatever you want it to be - and you'll never tire of looking at it.

I believe that the fascination with these pieces is not only their content but also the beautiful shimmering colours which are the result of various techniques, and of the application of many glazes which are mixed in house. Each component is firmly attached in various ways. All canvases are hardboard backed and most are professionally framed. This is reflected in the price.

I accept commissions and particularly enjoy working on those which include objects which have meaning to the client such as baby teeth, a special photo or piece of jewellery.

All the mixed media canvases shown on this site are my own work and truly original. No two are ever identical so what you're purchasing is, in fact, a one off: One of a kind. And a piece of me!

I sincerely hope that you like what you see.
